Amuse Bouche - Bite Beauty lipstick review

Amuse Bouche lipstick in Beetroot

Amuse Bouche lipstick in Gazpacho

Amuse Bouche lipstick in Pepper

The good:
  • These things are super moisturizing. They're made with 12 edible oils, which is interesting since you get a definite citrus-y scent when you apply the product.
  • The glide on like a dream (more on that later).
  • The color and pigmentation on these guys are insane. Every color I was sent was a one-swipe wonder.
  • Along with my previous bullet, the shade range available for this product is quite extensive! I even noticed there is a near-black color (called "Black Truffle" which is listed as a "Black Violet" shade) and in total, if you aren't impressed with the 3 shades I'm showcasing here, there are 31 more to check out! Bite has released 34 total shades for the Amuse Bouche line.
  • There is a lot of bang for your buck here. With this product, a little goes a long way and there is plenty in the bullet to last quite a while.
Left to right: Pepper, Gazpacho and Beetroot

The bad:
  • If you like the typical Bite scent, these may or may not be for you. I have quite a few of the Luminous Creme Lipstick Duos and the Matte Crème Lip Crayons and neither of those smell quite like the Amuse Bouche lipsticks do
  • The wear time on these is not long-lasting by any means. They transfer very easily and need to be reapplied quite often. In a normal day, I found that by lunchtime (after applying around 8am) my lipstick was completely worn off
  • Perhaps it's my weird lip chewing habits, but the formula on these made my lips peel like no other! I was really surprised since there were so many edible oils and nourishing elements to the product, but maybe it was actually doing its job and I was the one promoting this odd side effect. Either way, it's something to note if you have extra-peely lips.
Hand swatch, light application: Gazpacho, Pepper, Beetroot

The ugly:
  • My number one annoyance with this product was how much it smeared :( I found that even drinking from a water bottle would rub the product out of my lipline and force me to check if I had crazy lips after every sip I took throughout the day. For reference, the Matte Crème Lip Crayons do not budge nearly as much as these did, so I was basing my experience off of that which might be a little unfair.
  • If you're not a fan of smudgy packaging, this might not be for you. The soft, satin exterior is beautiful and unique, but does not lend itself well to dirty hands or bags (as you can see in my product shots)
Beetroot open, and an example of how dirty the packaging can get

Bottom line? As far as lipsticks go, these are great! They won't be for everyone, but for a classic lipstick lover who is looking for a variety of shades and a quality product... you won't be disappointed. The only thing holding me back from buying the other 31 shades is the price range.

Find them here and in store at a Sephora near you for $26 a pop
