February Favorites 2015

We have reached the end of a the shortest month of the year (and my birthday month, but really, who's keeping track...)! My throat's been a little funky lately and my skin has been absolutely ridiculous so instead of a video, this month I snapped some photos (while drinking hot green tea with honey. throat funk, go away) of my favorites.

This has been my favorite combination for a full-coverage face. The Make Up For Ever Full Coverage concealer has, no joke, the best coverage I have ever seen in a concealer. And this is coming from someone with some intense hyper-pigmentation from a bad time with acne. I had originally tried the CoverFX concealer and found it to be hella greasy, so upon returning it to Sephora, the associate helping me pointed me in the right direction. This. Stuff. Is awesome.

Maybelline also re-released[?] their Fit Me! foundation in a Maybelline Fit Me! Matte + Poreless formulation recently. I had a coupon, so I picked it up not expecting much. This stuff applies like a dream! I ran out of my Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet+ and was bummed, but this drugstore gem has had me (and my wallet) content. Paired with a nice setting spray, it stays put throughout the day for me. My only complaint? It seems to oxidize quiiiite yellow. I may need to get a lighter shade to mix in for a more accurate tone.

Can I just throw some appreciation at NYX for making a hella cheap version of what I wanted Urban Decay's DeSlick to be? Okay. That's all. (But seriously... this NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray was affordable and keeps my face from sliding off in the gross Florida weather. The only difficult part about it was trying to find one, unharmed, in my hellish local Target).

Another thing I have been absolutely IN LOVE with doing this month has been... using my Bath & Body Works 3 wick candle lids as mixing palettes! It sounds so weird, but it works so well! I tend to hoard these candles like nobody's business, and up until I figured this trick out I was only really able to re-purpose the actual candle container itself. Now I can use the whole thing practically, even after the candles are gone. Recycling, HOO-rah! \o/

I have been losing my mind lately with dusty rose lip products. In my favorites for this month, I pretty much cover all bases. Crayon form, bullet form, matte, glossy... the whole shebang.

First... L'Oreal's Colour Riche La Laque. This was another "well, I'm not expecting much but it's cheap so why not?" purchase. I found it for $3 at Big Lots and almost put it back because it was the "glossy" version of the two (the other being "Le Matte") and I hate sticky gloss-like consistency. What can I say about this lip product? It is not sticky. It is glossy, but in a comfortably slippery way. The color lasts quite a while, and is opaque in one swipe. The scent is exactly like the L'Oreal Colour Riche bullets (which is nostalgic for me). I love this stuff and I'm so happy I splurged my $3 on it.

I found a mini of Bite's Matte Crème Lip Crayon in Glace a while ago, got home, excitedly ripped open the package and found a hot pink color. Not Glace at all. Upon returning it, the Sephora associate told me that many people had that happen to them and that it was a faulty batch. Sad day. But, lo and behold, I found another one recently in the right color and have been absolutely in love with the way it looks on my lips. The pink is very deceiving; the color settles to more of a muted nude than a pink on my lips. Not only is the color beautiful, the formula is comfortable as heck, too.

So, ColourPop screwed up my order. If you read my last blog post, you know I was pretty miffed about not getting my Lippie Stix in the color Lumiere. However, I'm happy to announce they not only sent me the missing Lippie Stix, but also replaced the eyeshadow that broke. Along with that, I am absolutely thrilled with this color and how it wears on a daily basis. It's like the non-committal version of putting on Stila's Liquid Lipstick in Patina... and it's only $5.

Last (but certainly not least) is Maybelline's Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color in both Lust for Blush (pictured) and Touch of Spice. These matte formulas are so comfortable I often forget I'm wearing them (until someone points out "hey you have lipstick all over your face" from trying to eat without carefully wiping away leftovers). They smell awesome and don't look terrible on moderately chapped lips (yep, thats me).

So pretty much, I've had a hell of a month rotating out 4 lip colors that look the same to an untrained eye (but if you're reading this, that's obviously not you...right?). Any more I should know about? Let me know (or don't, if you wish to keep my wallet from crying) below.
